If you haven’t heard of STAT Wellness, it’s about time you know. STAT Wellness is the first medicine and movement facility to open it’s doors in Atlanta, and we couldn’t be more proud of the female-founder and mega boss babe, Kristin Oja, DNP, FNP-C, PT-C. Kristin obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice, Masters of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus, and is a Registered Nurse. She is also an entrepreneur, functional and lifestyle medicine guru, personal trainer, group fitness instructor, and lover of everything health and wellness!

From body composition scans and group fitness classes, to hydration stations and your annual doctor visit, STAT Wellness has it all. Take a peek inside the STAT Wellness studio below and snag some major inspiration from Kristin.

What is STAT Wellness?

STAT Wellness stands for Strength to Achieve Total Wellness. We are a one stop wellness practice offering both MEDICINE + MOVEMENT under one roof. We believe having the knowledge through medicine and putting into action through movement helps you not only look your best but feel your best because [wellness feels good.].

What services can people expect at STAT Wellness?

Everything from group fitness to personalized medicine visits. You can check out our website here to learn more about our services. We have a comprehensive list of services including personal training, small group training, group fitness, health coaching, dietitian on staff for nutritional counseling, IV therapy, and personalized medicine visits.

What makes STAT Wellness different than your typical gym or fitness studio?

Definitely the medical component, but also our class offerings. Most boutique gyms have one style class for example yoga studios focus on yoga, pilates on pilates, and orange theory on intervals and while all those are excellent for you, we wanted to offer the variety you need to become your best under one roof. We offer four classes including STAMINA, STRENGTH, STABILITY and REB3L. STAMINA is your classic interval style class blending cardio and strength. STRENGTH is a 55 minute controlled weight lifting class to get you stronger, increase bone density, shift body composition, and boost metabolism. STABILITY is low impact TRX, body weight, bands, and bender ball class that focuses on unilateral moves and core strength for long and lean muscles. REB3L is a stress free, high energy dance class.

Who is STAT Wellness for?

Anyone looking for health and longevity. Unfortunately, we do not give any magic pills; we believe getting healthy and becoming your best is a marathon and not a sprint and we are here to support you.

The ATL fitness and wellness scene is booming—what inspired you to open a brick-in-mortar location in a competitive economy?

That is a great question. I don’t really believe in competition. It is all about collaboration! I love working and learning from like-minded people in the wellness space. The more the wellness community booms the more people interested in my model. I believe if you focus on your WHY and mission, you will be successful. I put my energy into making STAT Wellness the best. I’m also so grateful to have a group of women I meet with monthly that not only offer mentorship, but motivate me to keep going.  Liz, founder of The Fit Atlanta being one of them ☺

What drives you to make risky decisions (i.e: investors, hiring, taking the leap to do your own thing)?

Honestly, I think I was born that way. I have always been an entrepreneur; strong willed, independent, living on the edge risk taker. I will say when you actually jump its scarier than you think, but again you have to stay focused on your WHY that is your driver.

What advice would you give entrepreneurial-spirits who want to grow/start a business?

Your life will become a roller coaster. You will have the highest of highs and the lowest of lows and it will change at any given moment. Embrace the change, be flexible and pivot when needed. Define your WHY, stamp it on your heart, and pump it through your veins. The rest will fall into place.

How do you practice self-care?

I prioritize sleep. I get at least 7 hours per night. I also practice gratitude; it helps to keep life in perspective. I have a gratitude journal on my nightstand and I try to write down one positive thing that happens every day. And of course EXERCISE!

What is ONE wellness practice people should do daily or weekly?

I think we all know the obvious ones like adequate sleep, hydration, clean eating, and exercise. So I would say my ONE wellness practice is to block off time to disconnect every day; turn off your phone and electronics. We live in a world where constant communication is expected. Plus social media is a time suck and can lead to unnecessary competition!
